The internet is an endless sea of information that is easy to get lost in; nothing new there. And as I have voyaged across the internet soaking up knowledge, it’s easy to start subscribing, sharing and bookmarking. Before you know it your email and browser are out of control. You become inundated with so much information that there is no possible way to sift through it all and stay up to speed with the great amount of content being shipped to you daily. Eventually, if you’re like me, you begin to scale back, and curate your information so you only get the best of the best.

Here are five of my top blogs/sites that receive click-throughs from me regularly because they consistently have great content, educational resources and freebies.

Vandelay Design is at the top of my list for a reason. They don’t provide too much information where it starts to become overwhelming. When I do see something from these guys in my inbox, it’s gold. Riddled with creative artwork, design inspiration, excellent free resources  and other curated lists (like this one) such as "Tips and Tools to Protect Your Online Reputation"

I guarantee this will be a blog that will stay in your feed as the others fall by the wayside.

gomedia 1 resized 600

Go Media is a team of passionate and creative individuals that I’ve been following and admiring for years. Gomediazine is their comprehensive guide to every piece of information and free resource they have to offer. Get inspired, learn a new trick, download a texture pack or a collection of sick vector graphics. The site is well organized and always features great content so you can find something new each time you visit. You can subscribe to their posts or their podcast to get all kinds of design related knowledge pumped right into your eyes and earholes.

If you’re looking for a new place to get inspired and get consistently solid content, this is your place.

smashingmagazine 1 resized 600

One of the top blogs on the web, Smashing Magazine delivers a vast array of content focused around coding, design, mobile, graphics, UX design and WordPress. Learn a new HTML technique, brush up on your typography skills, stay up to speed on responsive design and get free icons, buttons or WordPress themes. They also have a lot of great e-books, workshops and even a job board for those of you looking for a job or a place to post your own.

This site tends to lean more towards the development side, but still contains a lot of great photoshop tutorials, development tutorials, and marketing and design information. With a clean and easy to use (and peruse) interface you can quickly sort through all of their topics (averaging 2-5 posts per day) to find what interests you most. Learn about everything from punctuation problems, Bootstrap 3, CSS tips, Wordpress tools or how to make a donut in Photoshop. You can also customize which topics you would like to receive if you choose to subscribe to their email list.

Endless amounts of information for web developers and designers at all stages of their career. With tons of freebies and great articles on topics like javascript, project management, web standards and WordPress you can get lost for days digging into everything this site has to offer.

So there you have it. It’s just a rain drop in an ocean but it’s a good place to start.

If you have any others that you feel compare, or should be recognized, let me know @brandbrick because I’d love to see where you guys go to get inspired and learn.

Happy learning!
