Are you struggling to stay innovative in marketing, because there are just simply too many things changing, and your daily tasks have you buried? Or, maybe you don’t even know where to go or what to do to stay innovative.

Our team has a few ways they stay innovative in their roles in marketing:

Be & stay inspired

Listen & learn

Iterate and customize

Brainstorm and solve

Their commitment to innovation in marketing aligns with the way I do things too.

My Innovative Marketing Methods

Read. A LOT. Yes — you read that correctly. Read. Read. Read. I take on 10-15 books a year; I just can't get enough content in front of my face. And I also pay attention to what others are doing. You need to ask questions — from customers, your team, you name it — otherwise, how else will you learn what they wish they could do?

One book my team and I are currently highly-invested in is StoryBrand.

What Is Great Marketing Content to Digest?

When asked where and what is the best content to digest (blogs, videos, books, etc.) related to doing your job better after defining their focuses for innovation in marketing listed above, I have received these common answers.

Have you used any of these resources before? It's where we pull our inspiration from. And, it's how we continue to push innovation and educational blog topics for our own blog, which I encourage you to subscribe to here.

To take this further on where to look and why, below are some additional thoughts from specific team members on how they continue to stay innovative with digital marketing.

Amanda Sleger – Account Manager

Amanda also believes in balancing her work-life balance by listening to Worklife with Adam Grant. After all, not everyone is up for the challenge of being an Account Manager. She understands the importance of balance between the two.

Lori O'Connor – New Business Developer

When it comes to developing new business connections and improving the way you go about doing so, these innovative publishers help her stay on top of her game.

Clare Richards – Creative Services Manager

Clare is all about tying creativity and emotions with data and results.

In short, it does not matter where you go or what you do to stay innovative in marketing, just do something. Never stop learning and growing. Digital marketing makes staying ahead of innovation even more difficult because it changes so quickly. If you want to stay innovative just look up, look around and learn from all that is around you.
